Using our existing runway which already has the capacity to serve up to 35m customers a year

The existing BHX runway runs at around one third of its potential operational capacity in a normal, non-Covid year (eg, 2019: 12.5m passengers). With the correct modifications and expansions to the terminal building and other facilities, enabling larger aircraft to fly in and out, and more frequently, BHX could serve significantly more customers in future. In our current business plan, we expect to serve 18m customers by 2033. While we do not have it baked into any business plans yet, in future we know BHX’s runway could handle well in excess of 30m passengers a year provided the right upgrades are made to the terminal and other supporting facilities. Existing runway capacity, however, is not a limiting factor.
