BIRMINGHAM AIRPORT WELCOMES ANDREW MITCHELL MP TO DISCUSS ITS PLANS TO MAKE THE AIRPORT THE BEST-CONNECTED IN THE COUNTRY

Birmingham Airport was delighted to welcome Andrew Mitchell MP to discuss plans for future growth in the region.

Mr Mitchell, the Member of Parliament for Sutton Coldfield and former Cabinet Minister, was shown detailed plans for how Birmingham will maximise its potential as a single runway airport as well as a significant up-scale of its investment programme.

As part of the plans, the airport will take advantage of existing capacity, to boost passenger numbers and modernise the offering to passengers.

Following the visit Rt Hon Andrew Mitchell MP said: “There are two key issues with Birmingham Airport that affect my constituents in the Royal Town. The first is obviously the noise that arises from the flightpaths over Sutton Coldfield, the second is that the airport should maintain its position as being the most user-friendly regional airport whilst having the most extensive international reach in terms of business and tourism.

“On both these issues, it is clear that senior management at Birmingham Airport take them seriously and are making good progress with both. I am grateful to them for the imagination and successful way that these plans are developing.”

Jo Lloyd, Business Development Director at Birmingham Airport said: “We are constantly looking at new ways to improve our offering for passengers. That’s why we’re excited about our plan for the future, as it sets out a series of ambitious and deliverable measures to secure growth for the region.

“We are grateful that Mr Mitchell found the time to visit our team today and look forward to updating him on our progress in the months ahead.”
