Jet2.com and Jet2holidays adds 250,000 summer seats from Birmingham Airport

On the back of announcing 55,000 extra winter seats earlier this week, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has today added 250,000 summer seats in response to the increased demand at Birmingham Airport.

The addition of thousands of flights and holidays for Summer 18 includes three brand-new sun and city destinations: Bodrum, Dubrovnik and Venice (exclusive to Birmingham Airport). This expansion means that the leading leisure airline and package holiday specialist now has 1.25 million seats on sale for Summer 18 from Birmingham Airport, a capacity increase of 25%.

To support this expansion, the company is bringing in two additional aircraft. On top of two aircraft coming into the fleet over winter, this means the company is now doubling its fleet for next summer from four to eight aircraft.

The news also means that Jet2.com and Jet2holidays is recruiting for over 100 jobs including Pilot, Cabin Crew and Ground Operations positions at Birmingham Airport and the company is inviting applications for this wide range of roles at www.Jet2careers.com

The brand-new destinations announced today for Summer 18 include:

  • EXCLUSIVE Venice – twice weekly service
  • Bodrum – one weekly service
  • Dubrovnik – twice weekly service

The expansion will also see Jet2.com and Jet2holidays put on more flights and holidays to a number of its most popular sun destinations, including: Alicante, Antalya, Crete, Dalaman, Faro, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Malaga, Majorca, Paphos and Tenerife. In addition, the company will now operate four weekly services to Rome.

Today’s announcement means that Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has put more than 300,000 additional seats on sale from Birmingham Airport this week, in response to the extra year-round demand from local holidaymakers.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “Today’s addition of 250,000 summer seats and three brand new destinations means that we have put more than 300,000 new seats on sale this week from Birmingham Airport. This is in response to the enormous demand for flights and holidays throughout the year from local holidaymakers, and to support that we are doubling the number of aircraft in operation at Birmingham Airport to eight, so that we have the award-winning flights and ATOL protected package holidays to meet this demand.”

William Pearson, Aviation Director of Birmingham Airport said: “This is an enormous commitment from Jet2.com and Jet2holidays at Birmingham Airport for Summer 18 having only started in March this year.  Earlier this week the airline announced extra winter seats and will now double the number of aircraft from four to eight for next summer.  This is great news for jobs locally and we encourage people to apply at www.Jet2careers.com.

“With the extra capacity and the three additional routes for summer 2018 this means that passengers have even more choice from their local airport.”
