Monarch Adds Lisbon For Winter 2016 From Birmingham Airport

Monarch, the leading UK independent airline group, has announced a new route from Birmingham to Lisbon as part of its winter schedule for 2016/17.

The new route to the Portuguese capital will begin on 17th June and will operate throughout the winter months, three times a week.

Marjan Schoeke, Monarch’s Head of Network Development, said: "We continuously refine and develop our network strategy looking closely at where and at what time our customers want to fly. We are pleased to be able to introduce routes that Monarch will be flying as winter destinations for the first time, in particular, our new route to Lisbon which is proving to be a popular choice with our customers.”

William Pearson, Aviation Development Director at Birmingham Airport, said: "We are delighted that Monarch is offering passengers the chance to visit the Portuguese capital of Lisbon direct from Birmingham Airport.

"This city is steeped in history and gives holidaymakers the chance to visit Roman and Moorish ruins, relax in one of the many beautiful plazas or visit the beach for some sun and sea.  The three times a week service makes this the ideal getaway."

The winter schedule for 2016/17 from Birmingham Airport has already seen more frequencies to some of the airline’s most popular leisure destinations and more sociable flight times catering perfectly for customers wishing to enjoy a short city break, ski holidays or extended winter sun holiday. The remainder of the winter 2016/17 will be added soon.
