Birmingham Airport experiencing its busiest festive period on record
Birmingham Airport is experiencing its busiest festive period on record as almost 400,000 passengers are expected to travel to and from the Midlands based airport over the festive period.
This overall figure is an increase of nearly 18% compared to the same period last year.
Paul Kehoe, CEO at Birmingham Airport, explains the figures:
The busiest day overall is expected to be Sunday 3rd January 2016 when over 29,000 passengers are anticipated to travel- over half of these are arrivals as people return from festive breaks.
Popular destinations for passengers jetting off to visit family and friends over Christmas include Ireland and Scotland. Those seeking warmer weather are jetting off to Cancun, Dubai, Spain and Portugal.
The airport will remain open throughout Christmas and New Year. The most popular destinations on the day are expected to be Dubai, Bridgetown, Amritsar, Hurghada, Tenerife, Rome and Alicante.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish all our passengers a happy Christmas and New Year.
