Flybe Adds Another Brand New Destination From Birmingham
Flybe, Europe’s largest regional carrier and the largest schedules airline at Birmingham Airport, has reaffirmed its commitment to further growth with the announcement of a brand new route to Berlin Tegel as part of its 2014 – 2015 Winter Schedule.
The new route to the German capital's main international airport will operate five-times a week from 26th October 2014 with seats on sale now at www.flybe.com from £44.99 one way including taxes and charges.
Paul Simmons, Flybe’s Chief Commercial Officer, comments: “Our commitment to connectivity, both for business and leisure passengers across the UK regions and Europe, continues. Today’s announcement of this brand new route clearly demonstrates our ambitions and hunger to deliver a network that meets the needs of our customers.
“We are particularly excited to be flying direct from Birmingham to Berlin Tegel, the German capital’s most convenient airport that’s only eight kilometres from the heart of the city’s downtown business district. It is a new destination for Flybe and we know that it’s an important one for both business and leisure travellers. It’s not only a main transport hub but also the commercial centre for a wide range of industrial sectors including, amongst others, world-leading companies in high tech and engineering. To establish convenient, affordable connections between two important European cities is something that once again illustrates our commitment to being a ‘One Stop to the World’ and ‘the fastest way from A to Flybe.”
Paul Kehoe, CEO at Birmingham Airport, said: "We're delighted with the news that Flybe’s brand new Berlin Tegel route will be operating from Birmingham five times a week from late October onwards. This expansion to their route network further strengthens the airline’s commitment to the West Midlands and will undoubtedly prove to be a popular addition to their destination portfolio for holidaymakers and business travellers alike."
Dr. Till Bunse, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales at Berlin Tegel Airport, has also welcomed Flybe’s news. “We are delighted that Flybe has decided to introduce a service to Birmingham from Winter 2014. We wish Flybe much success and great load factors at all times.”
The airline’s announcement comes in quick succession to it already adding new routes to Hamburg and Oslo to its already extensive 2014-2015 Winter Schedule from Birmingham, which also features six new summer routes, extending through winter, namely those to Reykjavik, Cologne, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Florence and Oporto.
The extended Winter Schedule further confirms Flybe’s commitment to Birmingham Airport as its largest base from where it will operate 27 routes in total as part of its 2014-15 Winter Schedule with a choice of up to 729 flights a week.
