Staff Travel

Birmingham Airport is committed to encouraging employees to travel to work in a sustainable way and by supporting employees in getting to work by public transport. As part of the Airport’s runway extension project, the Airport Company is committed to reducing the number of employees who travel to work by private car, with a target of 33% of staff to travel by non single occupancy private car by 2028. We have therefore introduced a number of initiatives to encourage all employees who work at the airport to use more sustainable modes of transport.

Travel by Train

The Airport’s on-site mainline rail station, Birmingham International, provides direct services to 45 stations from its on-site rail station - making it the country’s best connected airport and an ideal way for passengers and staff get to and from the airport.

Travel by Bus

There are 5 bus routes that serve Birmingham Airport (BHX) and Birmingham International rail station which are ideal for those employees who live locally as they serve Leicester, Chelmsley Wood, Marston Green and Erdington, Birmingham City Centre, Coventry and Sutton Coldfield.

Birmingham Airport has also joined forces with Halfords on a scheme which enables Birmingham Airport employees to hire/ purchase a bike, which is paid through salary over a twelve month period.

Travel by Car

The employee parking is located in Car Park 6. A 6 minute partially covered walking route is available from the car park to the terminal building and a free bus service is also be provided. In order to access the car park by vehicle employees will need to have their ID card activated for car park use in the ID Centre, 1st floor Diamond House.
