What to expect in Paphos

Paphos is the ideal holiday destination, whether you’re looking for a long summer holiday or a city break. It offers a variety of water sports, hiking, museums and boat trips to keep you occupied during your trip.

Greek is spoken in Paphos and the south of the island, whilst the north of the country mainly speaks Turkish. However, many locals all over Cyprus speak English due to the tourism industry and previous British rule.

Cyprus has a very mild climate, rarely falling below 10°C in its coldest months, making it a great destination to visit almost all-year round.

Culture in Paphos

Once ruled by the Myceneans and the Romans, Paphos bears the mark of powerful empires on its culture. Famous for its museums, art galleries and being the birthplace of Aphrodite (the Goddess of love and beauty), it’s easy to say that the district is more than just sunshine and sea.

A trip to Paphos wouldn’t be complete without trying some traditional Cypriot delicacies. Flavours meld both Cypriot and Turkish palates but with a large Greek influence. Meze, souvlaki and gyros can be found at most tavernas on the island, with dishes ranging from hummus and salad to fish and potatoes.

Paphos is the place to be if you want to mix relaxation with exploration. Head to a water park one afternoon and spend the next morning at a medieval castle while soaking up the glorious sunshine. For sun and sea as well as culture and history, head to Paphos for your next holiday.
