Birmingham Airport is extremely accessible from all ends of the country. Public transport can take you directly to the airport, via coaches, buses or trains to Birmingham International Airport train station. Our frequent and free Air-Rail link can transport you from the station to the terminal in just two minutes.
For those driving, there is a choice of seven carparks which are all easily accessible from the terminal - by foot or the free courtesy shuttle bus. If you book a parking space online in advance, you can save up to 50%. Taxis can also drop you right outside the airport.

Arriving at Munich Airport
Munich Airport is around 22 miles from the city centre, however this doesn’t mean that the city isn’t easily reachable. The underground network (the S-Bahn) goes direct from the airport to the city centre and takes around 45 minutes, departing every 10 minutes. There are also various buses, making your trip convenient and stress-free.
Munich has two terminals close to each-other and a courtesy shuttle bus that can take you from one to the other. There are eight car-hire companies located by Hall C at Terminal 1, and taxis are plentiful.

What to expect in Munich
Are you ready to visit the heart of Bavaria? Munich is Germany’s third-largest city, and it definitely doesn’t do things in halves. Lively beer gardens, countless museums and the famous bratwurst sausage - it caters for pretty much everything. Munich is a rather large city, but efficient public transport options ensures it’s easy to get around. With trams, the underground, buses and trains, there’s no need to fork out on taxis.
The high season in Munich varies. Whilst the city’s good weather encourages visitors from June – August, the arrival of Oktoberfest transforms the city. If you’re attending Oktoberfest in Munich, it’s sensible to book accommodation a year in advance due to its immense popularity. The Christmas markets in December also cannot be ignored. With markets dotted around the city from the end of November to December 24th, there’s no better way to get into the festive spirit. Expect prices to be higher throughout all these peak times.
Culture in Munich
The hub of European architecture and culture, Munich is home to the Deutsches Museum, one of the oldest museums in the world. As well as countless art galleries and theatres, Munich also hosts the most famous beer hall in the world – the Hofbrauhaus am Platzl. If beer is your thing then you can’t miss the Hirschgarten – the largest beer garden on the planet with an impressive 8000 seats.
History buffs will not be disappointed by the city, and there’s also plenty of opportunities to engage with the beautiful architecture. With over 80 museums ranging from potatoes -yep, potatoes- to the largest science and technology museum on Earth, prepare to be blown away.
Be sure to immerse yourself in the city’s food scene. Try the famous Munich bagel and sausage and the Germknödel – a typically Bavarian dessert with Austrian influences. Nightlife in Munich is one of the most vibrant in Europe, but it isn’t just clubs and discos. The many breweries that are scattered around the city attract millions every year, and there are plenty of quieter restaurants and pubs where children are welcome.
