Arriving at Bodrum Airport

Bodrum Airport is located approximately 22 miles from the city centre and offers several options for onwards travel.

There are several airport shuttle buses, as well as public buses, which drive directly to the Bus Station, located in Bodrum city centre. The journey takes around an hour and is the most cost-effective option to reach the city. If you prefer a more direct mode of transport, you may choose to take a taxi from outside the terminal building.

What to expect in Bodrum

Bodrum is a summer holiday hotspot, which has both a touristy side filled with boutique hotels, trendy restaurants and clubs, and more hidden corners where you will find beautiful beaches with locals enjoying the sun. The town covers a large space on the Aegean coast of Turkey opposite the Greek Island of Kos. From the historic castle to beautiful beaches, it’s a stunning Turkish town with endless attractions to keep the whole family entertained.

The main language of Bodrum is Turkish but you will find that most locals will speak good English, particularly in tourist hotspots.

Summer in Bodrum is hot, around 29°C with very little chance of rain. Winter temperatures average 12°C and if you choose to travel during the colder months, you can expect rain.

Bodrum has plenty to keep you busy, whether it's haggling away in the various colourful markets, visiting the ancient Bodrum amphitheatre, or exploring the grand Castle of St. Peter. You could head out onto the shimmering Aegean Sea on a boat trip, stroll around the beautiful Old Town or people-watch at the buzzing marina. One of Bodrum’s best cultural attractions is the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Visit the ruins and the adjacent museum to learn about the history behind them.

Eating fresh fish and mezze in Bodrum is an absolute must, and you’ll soon discover that everything is delicious because it’s prepared with the freshest ingredients. Don’t leave without picking up some Turkish Delight, one of Turkey’s most famous exports. Bodrum produces its own variety of the sweet treats, incorporating the local fruit – mandarin.
