Destination guide: Orlando

Visiting Orlando for the first time?

No destination on earth is more iconic for theme parks than Orlando. With so many amazing theme parks and attractions for people of all ages to enjoy, it’s difficult to narrow it down. Walt Disney World, where you can delight in the sight of Cinderella Castle or come face-to-face with your favourite characters such as Mickey and Minnie, is a must-visit if you’re visiting as a family. If you’re after adrenalin-pumping rides, try Magic Kingdom Park home to Space Mountain and the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

Shopping options in Orlando are endless. Two popular malls are The Florida Mall and the Mall at Millenia. The Florida Mall has all the main brands, a food court, and various department stores. The Mall at Millenia is slightly more high-end, offering jewellery and electronic stores. Many Orlando hotels include free transport to these shopping malls and outlets so it’s worth checking with them before you make your travel arrangements.

The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is a must-visit if you’re interested in the life of an astronaut. Check out the Space Shuttle Atlantis Exhibit and the Shuttle Launch Experience.

Not far from Orlando is Kelly Park, a park which is covered in lush green flora. Float down the crystal-clear water in tubes, and try and spot the little fishes, birds and turtles.
