Visiting Kuala Lumpur for the first time?
The Petronas Towers, also known as the Petronas Twin Towers, are twin skyscrapers in Kuala Lumpur. Once the tallest buildings in the world but now the world’s tallest twin structures, they’re home to an upmarket shopping mall in the base and various observation decks on different floors.
Batu Caves are a Malaysian national treasure. Around 13km from downtown Kuala Lumpur, these limestones caves serve as a Hindu Temple devoted to Lord Muragan whose 42-meter-high gold statue stands guard outside. The caves are home to hundreds of monkeys that wander around oblivious to humans!
Shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur are much more than just shops, they’re experiences. The retail complexes often have hawker, gyms and much more. Find international brands at Nu Sentral or vintage items at Central Market.
Spend the day cooling down at Sunway Lagoon Theme Park, host to a number of water rides. Daredevils can try Malaysia’s first surf simulator, the FlowRider, and the Cameroon Climb where two riders swoop down from a height of 15m in double tubes and shoot up and down till they come to a standstill. If you’re travelling with children, there’s Little Zimbabwe, an interactive water playground.
