Destination guide: Shanghai
The first port of call for most visitors to Shanghai is The Bund, a mile-long stretch of waterfront promenade along the Huangpu River.
The central harbour is dominated by Auckland Harbour Bridge, completed in 1959 and over one kilometre long and 43 meters high. It connects downtown Auckland to the northern districts and sandy beaches of the bays farther north. If you’re after thrills, the bridge also offers plenty of fun things to add to your experience.
Discover the Sky Tower for 360-degree views of the city whilst enjoying dinner at an award-winning restaurant. The Sky Tower rises an impressive 328 metres into the sky and is used for both telecommunications and tourism. Push your limits by walking the outside of the viewing platforms...
Get outdoors and enjoy Piha, a scenic black-sand surf beach in the West of Auckland. You can take surfing lessons or try abseiling down the Piha canyon. Take a picnic or visit the beachside surf club for a bite to eat.

If you’re going to bungee jump, there’s no better place in the world to be than New Zealand. Suspended over Waitemata Harbour, you’ll take in 360-degree views of the area before leaping from the Auckland Harbour Bridge. Take an exclusive bridge walk to the purpose-built bungee pod and feel the adrenaline as you plunge 40 metres towards turquoise waters.
For a fun-filled family excursion, hop on a ferry to Rangitoto Island, which is just 25 minutes away from Auckland. Here you can trek across the ruggedly beautiful volcanic landscape and explore lava caves.
Another great day trip option is Waiheke Island – home to white sandy beaches perfect for swimming or kayaking and world-famous wineries like Stonyridge Vineyard. Extend your trip and wake up to the sounds of waves by staying overnight in a beach house.
There's lots of ice cream to be found throughout New Zealand (and even in Auckland), but if you want the best and most innovative ice cream experience, you need to head to Giapo. Here, the ice creams are more like art than food!
