CCTV

Closed circuit television (CCTV) is used by Birmingham Airport for the prevention and detection of crime, security and the health and safety of our visitors. Birmingham Airport may also use CCTV footage to investigate complaints, claims (whether involving insurance or not) and/or any occurrence or event which may result in a complaint or claim being made.

We ask that anyone who visits the Airport site reads the Privacy Notices here. We advise that if you are a regular visitor to the airport, that you check it often as it is kept up to date and subject to change.

The Airport is committed to the privacy of members of the public, staff, suppliers, contractors and our retails partners. All are captured by the Airport CCTV systems and to ensure that CCTV is used appropriately and lawfully there is a policy which governs the Airport's use of its CCTV.

The CCTV Policy adopts the Information Commissioner’s CCTV Code of Practice for Data Protection and the Surveillance Camera Commissioner’s Code of Practice which governs the operational aspects of a CCTV system.

Access to CCTV Footage

The Data Protection Act gives living individuals certain rights to their personal information. One of these is called Right of Access (the new subject Access Request), which gives people the right to request information held on them by any organisation, but it may not give them an automatic legal right to obtain personal information held about other people.

If you wish to make a request to see CCTV footage of yourself we require the following:

• Sufficient ID to prove your identity.

• Sufficient information for us to identify you, such as clothing or car description. The CCTV operators will need to identify you in the footage.

• Accurate information on location, date and time of the footage you require.
