Birmingham and West Midlands are on a strong trajectory of growth

Boosted by improved connectivity from HS2

HS2 is a multi-billion-pound Government scheme to level up Britain by bringing its major economic centres closer together via a new railway. Euston will be HS2’s London terminus. It will stop at Old Oak Common, in West London, then on to Interchange station, 2km from BHX, and Birmingham Curzon Street thereafter.

BHX is already the best-connected UK airport, sitting at the heart of the road and rail networks. HS2’s Interchange Station, linked into BHX with the APM (automated people mover), will make BHX even better connected.

Interchange station is set to enable local growth plans at the Arden Cross site, a new town located between the new HS2 line and the NEC and BHX. This development is part of the Urban Growth Company’s vision for the UK Central Hub, which will create an environment to support 70,000 jobs, 8,000 new homes and 650,000m2 of commercial space, generating £6.2bn GVA per year.
