Overview

  • Birmingham Airport is the UK's third largest airport outside London and the seventh largest overall.
  • By 2033, Birmingham Airport is forecast to handle around 18 million passengers a year, an increase of 40% compared to current passengers numbers.
  • The Airport's Master Plan sets out the Airport's vision for the future and how it will invest £500m over the next 14 years to grow capacity and modernise facilities - all within the existing boundary.

  • Fifty airlines operate to 143 direct routes, including Istanbul, Dubai and frequent services to major European hubs. A further 280 global connections are available via hub airports including Delhi, Dubai, Istanbul, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Paris.
  • Birmingham Airport is home to around 50 airlines including global flag carriers - Emirates, Turkish Airlines, Air India, KLM, Swiss, SAS, Brussels Airlines, Air France and Lufthansa.
  • Birmingham's business/leisure passenger split is 20% business and 80% leisure.

  • Birmingham and the wider region has the largest share of manufacturing activity in the UK.
  • The region boasts a specialist economy with a high-value manufacturing sector including transport, automotive, aerospace, machinery and military equipment.

Terminal Facilities

  • Birmingham Airport is a one terminal operation featuring 115 check-in desks, 27 self service kiosks and 47 aircraft stands, of which 20 are air-bridge served.
  • 11,000 sqm of commercial space including 20,000 sq.ft walk-through World Duty Free store offering an extensive range of liquor, beauty, accessories and confectionery, with luxury brands including Chanel, YSL and Dior
  • 13,000 car parking spaces across several short, medium and long term car parks, including three multi-storey car parks.
