Flight Path Changes - North (Runway 33)
In 2017/18, Birmingham Airport undertook a consultation about proposed new flightpaths for aircraft departing the Airport to the north from Runway 33. We were required to implement new flightpaths because of a national programme to modernise UK airspace, which is introducing changes in the technology used to navigate aircraft and which aims to deliver a more efficient airspace system for the UK.
Following Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) approval of the Airport’s proposals, the new flightpaths became effective from May 2019 and have been in operation since that date. The process continues with the CAA’s requirement for a ‘Post Implementation Review’ one year after the changes were implemented, which has been delayed as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.
We will update this page as the Post Implementation Review proceeds.
On these pages you will find the consultation document, together with supporting information to enable you to find out more about how the decision was arrived at.
